Taking the pulse in Gemmayzeh

In the Gemmayzeh District, around the Frere school area, the Tayyar Al Watani and Lebanese Forces personnel stand on opposing sides in attempt to overthrow one another by gathering more votes with their miniature pamphlets and lists. One of the Tayyar team (Naji) claims to be instigated and egged on by the Lebanese forces, but they did not respond. On the other hand the Lebanese forces asserted confidently that there are no disputes and conflicts denying the prior statement, claiming that the number of voters for their side were much more in the morning, in addition to their flags covering their cars and loud music playing. One of the members declared that “it is a shame that the Tayyar is running against us”. Several senior citizens were very content with the electoral process, and highly approved of the level of organization, praising the minister of interior “Ziad Baroud”.
