IdeaSpace - Collaborative problem solving and social innovation

September 15, 2008 by RootSpaceOnline

IdeaSpace is an initiative of RootSpace to foster open collaboration and problem solving around critical needs in social, economic, and environmental development.  IdeaSpace aims to bring together a wide variety of minds and partners from civil society, the private sector, government, education, and individuals to brainstorm and refine new approaches and opportunities in addressing critical needs.

As related elements, RootSpace is the Lebanon country host for Global Entrepreneurship Week (Nov 17-23, 2008), and organizing the IdeaSpace Challenge (presented in Nov '08 along with GEW).

Promoting and supporting social entrepreneurship is core to RootSpace, involving the development of various programs and activities, including:

• incubation opportunities
• training activities and workshops
• supporting the development of a community of social entrepreneurs in Lebanon
• hosting and co-hosting a variety of activities and discussions, both within the RootSpace location, and co-hosted projects between the RootSpace location in Beirut and locations abroad (for example, with like-minded organizations in London, Vancouver, or San Francisco)
• organizing and conducting social entrepreneurship business plan competitions
• and more!

Soon after, we will be organizing and presenting Lebanon's first Social Venture Competition.  Stay tuned for more exciting info!
