cell phones and poverty

Technology, mobile technology, and cell phones could be powerful forces for social change and economic development, as illustrated through a recent article of the NY Times.

The situation is a bit more complicated in Lebanon, with telecom costs among the most (or perhaps THE most) expensive in the world.  Because of that, mobile and internet penetration rates are still fairly low, although with costs slowly rising, hopefully usage rates will slowly climb, as well.
