Here is a great opportunity to showcase innovation coming out of the WANA (West Asia/North Africa) Region ... the World Bank's upcoming "Innovation Fair: Moving Beyond Conflict", April 12-15, 2010. Applications are due March 7, but the sooner you get them in the better! Projects will be voted on by site users, and that public support will be one of the criteria used to determine which projects will get funded! Get your project(s) up early, and try and spread the word to get people to go visit the site and vote!
The Fair is looking to find and support solutions that could have a real impact in fragile and conflict areas... The four main themes are:
Window 1: Improve Service Delivery and Governance through the Use of Communications Tools
Theme 1: Using technology to facilitate delivery of basic social services
Theme 2: Improving governance and accountability through communication technologies
Window 2: Innovative Research and Practical Approaches to Conflict and Violence Prevention
Theme 3: Reducing incentives for crime and preventing violence among youth
Theme 4: Addressing violence through multi-countries approaches
There are already a few entrants FOR the MidEast, but not many FROM the MidEast... Please pass the word on and encourage people to apply!

The top 30 entrepreneurs will receive a travel grant to take part, and all selected projects will be posted on the World Bank Institute website and reviewed by an expert team. Some projects will be also eligible for funding and technical assistance. It is going to be an amazing week in Cape Town and with your help we can bring entrepreneurs together to tackle major problems in some of the toughest parts of the world.
