IdeaSpace Challenge 2009 Intro Doc

This document (download below) is intended for universities/organizations/companies which might be interested in participating/partnering/supporting IdeaSpace Challenge 2009... not yet finalized, and would love to do some better design work, but this as an initial intro/outreach document.  Obviously not for student/campus recruitment. 

The rough schedule is that we want to finalize this document by the meeting on Thursday, and then send out Friday to key campuses and organizations we want to connect with.  We want to reach out specifically to university professors to see if there are some who may be interested in integrating this into a class somehow, and if we can arrange some intro/outreach presentations in the coming weeks on a few campuses to get some students/faculty interested.  Hoping that we can get 5-7 groups participating in this coming edition (Feb-Jun, 2009).  We are contacting some right now to see if they are interested in giving us feedback on the project at this early stage, as well.  PLEASE, please be thinking and let me know if you have any good ideas or contacts for organizations/universities/specific people (especially faculty) we should connect with, or specific companies/people/etc who might be able to fund/support this.  Let me know.

Also... the Challenge Theme is not finalized... but Maurice/Chantal/Christina/I thought that was the best idea to start with, since there is a lot of flexibility and different approaches that could be included in that. Village scale, or industrial scale. Agricultural by-products converted to heating fuel, bio-diesel, solar, improving efficiency, etc etc.

Please join us for a working/planning session for launching IdeaSpace Challenge 2009.  We had a great brainstorming/working session on Saturday with Maurice, Chantal, Christina (friend of RootSpace), and me, to discuss a bunch of details related to this project, document, etc.  A further draft is available online, with more details about the project. If you are interested/available, we are having a broader meeting about this project at RootSpace on Thursday, January 8, 7-8:30pm.  If you can't make it, please send suggestions/edits/etc.  Thanks to Imad, Kevin, and Maurice for commenting on an earlier draft.
